THIS IS MY STORY, POSSIBLY YOURS AS WELL…
For as long as I have been working for others, a part of me has always imagined, “‘What if I could write my own paycheck?”, but I never really acted upon it, UNTIL NOW…! [How I Discovered the Education, Training, and Mentor I Was Missing]
Let me share with you, after years of Habit and Complacency, how I finally found the “Educational Curriculum” that I am learning to Create my Own Success and on my way to Living a Life Beyond Measure…!
Now I am “Learning” how to Live that Life that most people only Dream and Desire… [It is like a key that unlocked the door that held my Visions of Success…]
Last year during my yearly job review, I was given a very loud wake-up call…
I was told I maxed out the pay scale, which meant no more raises, even though the business was expanding and I was working harder than ever…
I felt trapped, and since I didn’t work on commissions, the only way it would change, is if I brought more “Value” to the company… someone else’s company.
How [or Why?] was I going to do that…?
Now… before I get to the specific steps… So you can appreciate, and possibly relate, how it is that I ended up here and you are [Thankfully] reading My Story…
… Then I will tell you what changed when I found the “Educational Curriculum”, and the “Mentor” that made all the pieces fall into place, not only for my current job, but a clear pathway for the rest of my life!
That “Day of Days” …
A simple conversation during the “End of the Year” evaluation at my current job.
No doubt, many of you have had those when working for someone else, where you are “graded” on your past year’s overall performance, with grades, or levels of “Improved”, “Satisfactory” or “Needs Improvement”, followed by a condensed explanation justifying the assessment, or something like that…
Mine went well…
I was “Commendably” Graded upon my performance of work…
OVERALL PERFORMANCE EVALUATION: “No Change. Keep Up the Good Work!”
I was handed a “End of The Year” Profit Sharing Check, all was Good, another Successful Year!
Then everything changed in one sentence…
“Regrettably”, I was informed, I had reached my “Pay Scale Level”.
[What?]
Moving forward, I would continue to be included in the company’s Profit Sharing Bonuses, but I would no longer be awarded any Pay Raises no matter the “Good Work” I provide for the Company, “UNLESS” I added more “Value” to the Company…
[More “Value”?]
“Value” was suggested I learn the C++ Code to an on-line Report that links with their Database so they didn’t have to Pay a Programmer $165.00/hr. to write financial and business reports…
Needless to say, I wasn’t earning $165.00/hr. at the time, nor was I promised that wage if I invested in myself and learned C++ Code.
At least I wasn’t laid-off, they were giving me a chance, but how “safe” was my “job”?
That is when the Sleepless Nights started…
I started working with this company as an Independent Contractor helping them test and customize a database they were purchasing as they were beginning to grow and add more employees.
After a successful integration, my contract was up, I then was offered a position to join them, which I agreed to…
I am a Single Father…
I didn’t have to work nights or weekends, I was offered Profit Sharing, Health Insurance, Steady Paycheck, and a Sense of Security, especially after the 2008 financial crisis…
I had always presumed that if my efforts contributed to the company growing, I would share in the success…
But the reality of it is, if you are not an owner of your own business, or work on commissions, you have little control of your income when you “Work” for someone else.
To add more “Value” I needed to add to my current “Skill Set”, which meant an educational curriculum of some sort, the money to pay for it, and the time to invest in it…
And if I did so, there was no guarantee that at the age of 52, a younger worker with the same skill set, who may be willing to work for lesser wages, wouldn’t be competing for my job.
All I could think about was providing for my 15-Year-Old Son’s future, my current debts and bills, what was left in my Savings and Retirement Accounts, and how I was going to find the answer to all of this…
I have always known that I am ultimately responsible for the financial wellbeing for myself and my family, and now was the time to make it happen, but this time I needed a “Paradigm Shift”.
I needed to change my way of thinking back from an “Employee” to an “Entrepreneur” …
I had only myself to kick in the butt, because I had forgotten a lesson learned long ago:
“The person who stops studying merely because they have finished school is forever helplessly doomed to mediocrity, no matter may be his calling. The way of success is the way of continuous pursuit of knowledge.” – Napolean Hill
It was Self-Evident that this was a “Reality Check Wake Up Call”, and it was finally time to get back to work, for MYSELF!
When I hit Rock Bottom – Facing the Reality of my “Mind Set”
Actually, I had attempted this before…
As I started my research, and the results started to include numerous “Work from Home”, “Earn On-Line”, “Learn On-Line” websites, it started to resurrect my memories of being laid off back in 2008…
Yeah, before I was “Keep Up the Great Work Employee in 2016” for my current job, back in 2008 I wasn’t even given the chance to “Better” myself, as did millions…
I was laid off.
For the next Two (2) Years, I tried every “On-Line Work from Home Business” (You Name It, I Tried It) offer, and after over $15K spent, I couldn’t make it work…
What happened…?
I have Two (2) College Degrees, A BA and a Masters, I consider myself Intelligent, years of Business Experience [Most as an Employee], I don’t believe that I am Easily Duped, I thought I did the Research, and I am an Eagle Scout for Pete’s Sake…!!!
Why couldn’t I make it work? [Hint: It was my “Mind Set”!]
Am I going to do this all over again with nothing to show but credit card debt I couldn’t afford, only to stay in my safe job, until my replacement was willing to work for less…?
My Moment of Discovery – The Reality of it all was that although I had the “Intelligence”, I did not have the “Skill Set”, nor an “Instructor/Mentor” to help me put it all together….
This time, I was going to Learn by my previous failures.
Not only was I going to find the “Education and Training” that I Needed, I wasn’t going to fall into any “Pyramid”, “Multi-Level Marketing”, “Get Rich Quick”, “Automated Program Will Do All the Work for You” scheme, or any other “Shiny Objects” on the Internet…
I not only needed to find a proven “Educational Curriculum”, I needed to find someone that “Had Done It”, “Was Currently Doing It”, and “Could Show Me”, “Step by Step, How to Make This Work”!
That was the only way, I couldn’t waste any more time…
… So, my search continued.
For the next 7 Months, I started my research of “Invest in Yourself” Internet Training, or even a Community College, or Night School course, when I was catching up with friends on Facebook, and came across and ad…
… And “Something” about the ad caught my interest.
It wasn’t only the message, it was the person telling me the story…
It wasn’t a typical “On-Line Sales Pitch” [Believe me, I have reviewed Hundreds!], there was something very intriguing to what he had to say…
… And “How” he said it.
This was no “Professional Actor” or “Pitch Man”, this was a “True Representation” of what was being offered by one of the persons who created the program…
I felt at ease…
Something inside me instinctively told me: “Click the Link”!
So, I clicked on a link, watched a Free Video, and registered for a Live Webinar.
A live webinar where the attendees could ask questions and give feedback…
… And time, after time, after time, the webinar host [My Mentor] had answers and examples of the “Educational Curriculum” he was offering, how it could work for you to add “Value” to your “Skill Set”, and how Mentors [Experienced and Trusted Advisers] would be with you every “Step-by-Step” along the way!
Most importantly, the training included how to “Change Your Mindset” from” An Employee to An Entrepreneur”!!!
WHAAAAAAAAAAT…???
Not only did I potentially find the answer that I was looking for, I was listening to a story that I found very similar to my own in many ways!
Was this the Breakthrough I was Searching for…? [Yes!]
A Community of Liked Minded Individuals in Search of an “Educational Curriculum” that would add “Value” and “Skill Sets” to my current job, or if I choose, any other opportunity in the future?
Yes!
More importantly, an “Educational Curriculum” that teaches the “Paradigm Shift” of changing your Mind Set from “Employee” to “Entrepreneur”?
Yes!!
An “Educational Curriculum” that included Evaluating your “Self-Worth”, and having the Self-Realization that a cavern may have to be bridged from where you are now, where you want to be, and although it may be vast, How to Bridge It?
Yes!!!
An “Educational Curriculum” that included How to identify any “Past Guilt and Shame” that may be keeping you from Believing that you are Worthy of Success, and How to Overcome It?
Yes!!!!
… And an “Educational Curriculum” on how to share this knowledge with as many people as possible so they can follow you on your journey, and help them, “Step by Step”, write their own Changes or “Paychecks” for Themselves, if they so desire?
Yes!!!!!
